The moon
Q & A's:
Q. How long is the moon's orbit? A. The moons orbit is 27 days. Q. Does the moon also orbit the sun? A.The moon moves around the Sun at the same time it moves around the Earth. Perhaps the best answer is to say the the moon interacts with both the Earth and the Sun at the same time. Q. What effect does the moon have on tides? A. Tide is the rise and fall of water caused by gravitational forces of the and sun on the oceans of the earth. What I am trying to say is that tidal cycles contain two high tides and two low tides each day. During the time between high and low tide there will obviously be current flow. Q. Do other planets have moons? If so, which planets? A. All planets except Mercury and Venus have at least one moon. Saturn has the greatest number of moons-18. |

Waxing vs WaningWaxing is the moon at any time after new moon and before full moon, because its illuminated area is increasing. Waning is (of the moon) have a progressively smaller part of its visible surface illuminated, so that it appears to decrease in size. The difference is that waxing is increasing while waning is decreasing.
